I then plugged the regular USB (probably a 1.0 or 2.0 cable not sure) into the laptop and it IMMEDIATELY worked. Just insert the mini-usb male end into the larger portion of the slot in the back of the monitor. The mini part fits into the larger section in the back of the monitor where the proprietary cable had a larger and smaller I also read that someone ditched the proprietary USB cable that came with the monitor and instead used a basic USB to mini-USB cable. Like you, I started looking around on on the net and found on a Windows Community board that this is definitely a hardware problem and the simply are not compatible. I have done everything AOC asked to no avail. AOC M圜onnect e1759Fwu (17 inch) LCD Monitor Open Box Please note that this is an open box clearance item.

Later, that laptop crashed and I bought a brand new one with Windows 10 Pro 64. I was using the AOC E1659Fwu USB powered monitor on a Windows 8.1 laptop and it worked fine. Given that E1759Fwu is the biggest portable monitor on the 17.3-inch long list. I don't know how much current the AOC draws, how much voltage drop there is at my Surface Book USB connector, how much drop through the cable to the AOC monitor.Ī much shorter (almost 1/3 the length) USB3 cable does seem to improve the AOC operation with my Surface Book running Windows 10. Youll have more windows and software open directly with more desktops. This seems to match two other cable replacement experiences related in this thread. My working theory is the monitor isn't getting enough operating voltage through the longer cable provided with the monitor, and under high activity draws more current which exacerbates the AOC insufficient drive voltage problem. When I leave it alone on the desktop, it appears to keep running, for almost a day now.

I picked the monitor up and turned it upside down while playing a movie and the connection was lost.

The AOC E1659Fwu USB powered monitor now plays 1080p movies. I decided to try replacing the 36-inch AOC USB3 cable with a 14-inch USB3 cable which came with my WD Passport HD on the AOC E1659Fwu USB powered monitor. You'll need to install AOC's own DisplayLink drivers so everything works, which isn't too much of an issue but should be noted if you think of picking one up on your way to the airport.AOC e1659Fwu USB monitor not working with Windows 10 Interestingly, it's not quite plug-n-play. Oh, and if you do not have two USB ports next to one another, you're stumped.

With a laptop, things got better, just not visually. In fact, we see no real reason you'd want to use this with a tower PC - just pick up an affordable display. Using the E1759FWU isn't a pleasant experience on the desktop. There's even VESA support, though only three screw holes are present. On the plus side, we have sharp-looking content, which is great for anyone doing some web browsing, document editing, and more.

I tried to install with the latest drivers from AOC and using the Disk that came with the monitor.

I have it working on this one, but the driver was installed on Windows 8.1 and then the system upgraded. You can't increase or decrease brightness, nor can you alter the contrast. There is no way to get this to work on a new Windows 10 server. What makes things worse is there's no clear way of altering the panel at all. So, what makes this a bad panel? There are washed out colors, which is also noted in user reviews, and the viewing angles aren't particularly brilliant. That all said, considering this thing is powered by nothing other than two USB ports, and you're only really going to be using this panel in a hotel room, airport, office or other location where you require a little more screen real estate, it's perfectly fine for general PC use. Click it to start checking the AOC USB monitor problem and fix it automatically. Click it, and then Run the troubleshooter button will appear. In troubleshoot window, find Hardware and Devices. You'll not be scoring high in color, saturation, brightness, and you certainly won't receive rewards from games for having an outstanding panel for a GPU to work with. Type troubleshooting in the search box and you can open the troubleshoot window in Windows 10.

This screen isn't billed as a gaming or professional monitor, and that's for a good reason - it's not either.
